About Laura
Laura Cassidy is the best movie producer you've never heard of. A native of Louisiana, she graduated Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama (Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude) and shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an actress. After several frustrating years she was given the advice “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door” (Milton Berle), and started her first production company, helming the neo-noir web series SHADOWS and slew of short films including BACK (168 Festival Audience Choice Award).
After retiring from a 15-year career in Mary Kay Cosmetics (yes, she drove a Pink Cadillac!) Laura started Indie Darling Films based in New Orleans, LA. She has produced multiple additional shorts including UNICORN POOP, which premiered as a top 5 film at the LA Film Prize, and feature films including PHONY, which played at 21 festivals worldwide, and most recently OFF RAMP: JUGGALO ROAD (in post). However, Laura is still perhaps best-known for a bit role in the awesomely-bad cult classic BIRDEMIC, a career move that will haunt her dreams and IMDB rankings forever.
